I think that the flash did a decent job of capturing some of the emotion behind the creation of the song. however this comment is less about the author or his work and more about the people writing reviews.
It seems like newgrounds reviews are rapidly increasingly turning into vapid hrose-shit. take for instance "this is the best song ever !!!!!!!1111111" illuminating no doubt but the comment leaves me with a feeling of emptiness as if gee I don't know they failed to provide adequate criticism. additionally (and this is a general rule) to all you people out there who think you are some sort of music critic because you've heard like 30 songs in guitar hero 3: you aren't try learning about the bands and their reasons behind making a song.
I really find yendor87's comment legitimately helpful in this regard because not only does he call out all the GH music idiots he also points out that its ridiculous for some stupid trendsters to hijack a sogn about war and death and loss. for the record this song is not about angst, or mommy and daddy not loving you, its about a man who has returned home after watching his friends killed and now finds himself distanced from everyone around him. This is not emo self imposed exile this is a song about real emotional/physical issues.

in the interest of avoiding additional rampant hypocrisy I will now proceed to review the flash itself:
the concept was a decent one, I appreciate you leaving paint it black open to interpretation your format didn't force a specific main character or setting upon us allowing us to project our own emotions onto it, the surest beginnings of good art.
honestly your biggest flaw was that your flash only covered half the song, this could be a result of course limitations so don't think its a personal problem.
Let me stress that a 7 is in no way mediocre it is merely a way of saying that it was decently better than average and something that held my attention and interest.
in short: you unlike a large number of the reviewers have garnered my respect.

"a fun way to kill time on a sunday afternoon"

Let me start this off by saying that I am often frustrated by hack and slash games, i often have problems in the words of another reviewer "finding ways to muck through the enemies" and your game was no exception I found myself consistently frustrated, but not in the bad "I-want-to-quit-right-now" way but rather in the "I wonder how I could do that differently and win" kind of way. basically it was challenging but not so challenging that I couldn't beat it. You managed to succesfully strike a balance between ease and difficulty.

given the long load time I was expecting good graphics, and they were delivered, and as an added plus the music kept the game from going stale in some places (as hack-and-slash games so often do)

In other words I commend you for this big ol chunk of code and art thats sitting on the internet.

this was an unmitigated pile of crap!
the animation style screamed "I know lets copy sealab, only lets do it really poorly"
I mean hell you even had a character from sealab.
and the jokes what the hell was with that! they were poor and contrived, not nearly up to the standards of anything that I would even spit on!
so to summarize this flash was like an enchilada a giant enchilada with retard beans and an extra serving of cheesy all wrapped up in a big week old stale torn tortilla of crap!!
